South Gippsland Shire faces suspension
The South Gippsland Shire is facing imminent suspension following the release of a report by the Municipal Monitor earlier this week.
Victorian Minister for Local Government, Adem Somyurek, received the final report in relation to the governance and performance of the council, concluding that it be suspended.
“The Council needs time out to reflect on its failure to provide good governance in the best interests of the South Gippsland community,” Mr Somyurek said.
The council gas 28 days to respond to the submissions raised by the report, at which point the minister will decide whether or not the council should face more punitive measures.
