Queensland unveils Spit blueprint

The Queensland State Government has released its blueprint for the construction of a the Spit Gold Coast Ocean Park, which will potentially see the construction of a cruise ship terminal in the area.
The plan will see over half of The Spit’s 200 hectares kept for park activities, while also seeing the construction of a light rail extension to Sea World, super yacht marina, improved cycle and walkways
The release of the plan comes after an 18-month consultation period with community groups and the Gold Coast City Council, which the State Government has given its full support to the plan
According to the government, the Gold Coast’s three-story height restriction will be retained.
The blueprint is being released for further discussion before a final plan is released in the coming months.
It divides The Spit into seven precincts:
Top of the Spit
Wave Break Island
Federation Walk coastal reserve
Muriel Henchman Park
Village centre
Philip Park
Southern gateway
