Local Government New South Wales (LGNSW) has identified 12 key election priority areas that it wants all parties and candidates to commit to in the lead up to the 2019 state election.
The association has doubled down on its call for all parties to support reinvesting 100% of the state’s waste levy back into recycling infrastructure, as the state continues to grapple with the growing recycling shortfalls.
Additionally, the association has called for a comprehensive infrastructure funding program to provide surety for funding for roads and public facilities. The association has also called for sweeping reforms to the state’s planning system to allow for greater self-determination.
Ownership of local water utilities is also hotly contested by the association, with the document calling for a commitment to local ownership and management of council-owned water facilities.
