New inquiry into the future of land-based mass transit
The Senate Standing Committee on Infrastructure, Transport and Cities has begun a new inquiry into current and future developments in the use of automation and new energy sources in land-based mass transit.
The inquiry will focus on road and rail mass transit systems, as well as point-to-point transport using automated vehicles to cover the ‘last mile’.
In addition, the inquiry will examine the role of new energy sources, such as hydrogen power, in land-based mass transit, and will consider Commonwealth roles and responsibilities in the development of these technologies.
Submissions to the inquiry are due by December 7, 2018.
