Sydney Planning Summit to tackle Sydney's future as a major global city
October 2, 2018
A recent report released by the Committee for Sydney has clearly set out the challenges that face Sydney if it is to become a major global city - which are the key themes to be discussed at the Sydney Planning Summit.
These areas of weakness are probably not news to anyone who knows the harbour city well: they are liveability; visitor brand, appeal and experience; transport and infrastructure; and participation in the innovation economy.
The benchmarking analysis comes as Sydney embarks on one of the most comprehensive planning and development phases of its 230-year history. Huge investment is being targeted at the new vision of Sydney set out in the Metropolis of Three Cities masterplan and the associated District Plans developed by the Commission for Greater Sydney.
Whether this investment is being effectively targeted and coodinated, integrating local planning with the larger vision so that Sydney will be well-placed to join the great modern cities of the world will be the focus of the Sydney Planning Summit to be held in Darling Harbour on November 28-29, 2018.
