CRC outlines water future for Sydney

August 20, 2018

The CRC for Water Sensitive Cities has released a new report outlining steps to ensure a “water sensitive future” for Greater Sydney.

The report, Vision and Transition Strategy for a Water Sensitive Greater Sydney, is the culmination of a series of workshops run by CRC that brought together 51 of the nation’s leading water, planning and environmental academics and thinkers.

The report presents a broad, strategic outline of how the Greater Sydney is progressing towards a sustainable future for water usage. The report contains five key recommendations:

  1. Create formal and informal networks for driving Sydney’s water sensitive city agenda to support a collaborative, flexible and integrated governance approach.

  2. Embed Sydney’s water sensitive city vision in organisational policies, plans and strategies.

  3. Establish a cross-organisational framework that enables and drives an integrated and strategic approach for managing the whole water cycle.

  4. Increase knowledge about the social, technical and design solutions that are not yet sufficiently developed to deliver the full scope of Sydney’s water sensitive city vision.

  5. Identify and establish pathways for implementing water sensitive solutions through innovation and investment
