Melbourne slips to 2nd in liveability ranking
Melbourne has been knocked out of top place as the world's most liveable city for the first time in seven years.
In the Economist's Global Liveability Index 2018, Vienna took first place, ahead of Melbourne, while Sydney was placed 5th, Adelaide 10th, Perth 14th and Brisbane 22nd.
Melbourne, which rated 98.4 compared with Vienna's 99.1, achieved 100 per cent in health care, infrastructure and education, 98.6 for culture and environment and 95 for stability.
Sydney, with an overall rating of 97.4, scored 100 for healthcare, education and infrastructure, 95 for stability and 94.4 for culture and environment.
