More funding available for NSW councils to manage flood risks
November 21, 2017
An additional $1.7 million has being made available for NSW councils to better understand and manage their flood risks.
The funding was provided under the Floodplain Grants Scheme, one of the programs jointly funded by the Commonwealth and NSW governments through the National Partnership Agreement on National Disaster Resilience.
It’s in addition to the $7.08 million being provided to councils through the State Floodplain Management Program for further flood mitigation projects.
Projects supported through this funding range from flood studies through to the construction of flood mitigation infrastructure, such as detention basins, levees, crossings, floodgates and flood warning systems.
The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage’s website has a full list of the projects.
