ALGA developing community infrastructure ideas register

August 30, 2017

The Australian Local Government Association (ALGA) is developing a register of potential community infrastructure projects around Australia.

ALGA will draw on this register in building the evidence base to strengthen the case for a Commonwealth funding program to help councils undertake vital projects to meet community needs.

While some of these facilities are relatively new, many were built decades ago and require significant maintenance and upgrades if they are to continue to meet community needs.

ALGA is calling for a Commonwealth funding program of $300 million a year for four years to improve community infrastructure.

To help achieve this aim, the ALGA is calling on council examples to demonstrate the strong need for Commonwealth funding – the register needs to contain at least three projects from every council in Australia.

Register your project ideas by completing the form on the ALGA website at: www.alga.asn.au
